Collectively, Colorado ski resorts hosted 3,285,649 skiers and snowboarders, an increase of 6.74 percent, or 207,533 visits, over last season's record First Period, defined as October 13-December 31, 2006.

Today was a lucky day for hundreds of Colorado skiers and riders who enjoyed the first turns of the 2006-07 winter season on this Friday the 13th at Arapahoe Basin. The resort is currently the first resort in the country open offering 1,200 vertical feet of skiing and riding along with three terrain features in High Divide Terrain Park. A tight race 'til the very end, Arapahoe Basin beat reigning opening day champion Loveland Ski Area by just one day. Today marks the start of Arapahoe Basin's 60th anniversary season and is the resort's earliest opening in its history.
