ColoradoSki Country Strives to Keep Visitors Safe On and Off the Slopes
DENVER, Colo. December 5, 2007 - Colorado Ski Country USA helped launch a new traffic safety campaign in conjunction with the Center for Transportation Safety. The campaign is a result of a partnership between the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and Colorado Mountain Express (CME.) The campaign will focus on I-70 traffic between Denver International Airport and Summit County.
"At Colorado Ski Country USA we value safety both on and off the slopes," explained Rob Perlman, president and CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA. "Because skier and rider safety has always been the number one commitment of our resorts, we are thrilled to participate in this valuable campaign to help the CSP and CME ensure that visitors are just as safe getting to and returning from the resorts."
CME vans which travel I-70 between DIA and Summit County, and carry more than 420,000 passengers annually, will display traffic safety messages on the back of their vans.
The messages from the CSP remind
motorists to make smart driving choices by:
•Always buckling up
•Observing the posted speed limits
•Slowing down as weather conditions dictate
•Not to become distracted or tailgate
•To never drink and drive.
While on the slopes, skiers and riders
are encouraged to know the skier safety code. By working with
the CSP and CME, CSCUSA hopes that while skiers and riders are on
our highways, they will also know the CSP safety messages outlined
in this campaign.
