COLORADO SKI COUNTRY USA
LAUNCHES 5TH AND 6TH GRADE PASSPORT PROGRAMS FOR 2008-09
SEASON
5th Graders Ski 3 Days at 21 Resorts for Free, 6th Graders Ski
4 Days at 21 Resorts for $99
Denver, Colo. - Sept. 18, 2008 -
Nearly 12 years ago, Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) started a
program called the 5th Grade Passport. The program was the first of
its kind and was designed to help introduce fifth graders to the
sports of skiing and snowboarding.
Entering its second decade, the CSCUSA 5th Grade Passport program
is now available for the 2008-09 ski season. The 5th Grade Passport
program is free and allows fifth graders three days of free skiing
at each of 21 ski resorts throughout Colorado.
Brochure-applications are sent to more than 1,200 public and
private Colorado elementary schools in the fall, additionally they
are available at Specialty Sports Ventures retail stores and
Wahoo's restaurants throughout Colorado. Alternatively, parents can
register their child online at http://passport.ColoradoSki.com.
Through the 5th Grade Passport program, CSCUSA has introduced
nearly 200,000 fifth graders to winter sports. Because of the
program's many benefits such as access to most of the state's ski
resorts, encouragement for youths to participate in winter sports,
and a great way to get kids outside and active during winter, it
has been emulated by other states and resorts across the
country.
Shortly after the 5th Grade Passport program was born, CSCUSA
introduced the 6th Grade Passport program. The 6th Grade Passport
is also now available for the 2008-09 ski season, and provides four
days of skiing at each of 21 CSCUSA resorts for $99. Applications
are available online at http://passport.ColoradoSki.com.
Since the inception of the sixth grade pass, more than 25,000
sixth-graders have taken advantage of the program.
Both the 5th and 6th Grade Passports can be processed online.
These CSCUSA programs are easy, economical ways to introduce kids
to skiing and snowboarding while getting them outside and active
during the winter months.
Colorado Ski Country USA is pleased to work with the following
sponsors of the 5th and 6th Grade Pass programs; Colorado Ski &
Golf, Boulder Ski Deals, Breeze Ski & Snowboard Rentals, Papa
Johns Pizza and Wahoo's Fish Tacos (in Colorado).
The CSCUSA 5th and 6th Grade Passes are valid at Arapahoe Basin,
Echo Mtn., Eldora, Loveland, Monarch, Powderhorn, SolVista Basin,
Ski Cooper, Sunlight, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort,
Telluride, Wolf Creek, Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, Cooper
Mountain, Crested Butte, Howelsen Hill, Snowmass, Steamboat and
